Mali: Conference on Education to Prevent Extremism/Further Human Rights

Devidiscourse.com reports on a conference sponsored by UNICEF and Institut de la Francophonie pour l’éducation et la formation  (IFEF) to help countries in the Sahel and West Africa to implement programs to prevent violent extremism through education (PVE-E).  According to the article, “the workshop addressed building teacher capacities in managing personal biases and polemic discussions in the classroom … “.  Speaking of the effect education can have on violent extremism, Fatumata Ironton Camara, Research Fellow in Education Techniques from Guinea-Bissau, stated, “to prevent violent extremism, we need quality education that is relevant, inclusive and equitable.”
