THAILAND: Government Sets Human Rights Agenda

Writing in Bangkok Post,Vitit Muntarbhorn, Professor Emeritus at the Faculty of Law, Chulalongkorn University, a former UN Special Rapporteur, UN Independent Expert and a member of the UN Commission of Inquiry on Human Rights,  discusses the Thai government’s Human Rights agenda.  According to Muntarbhorn, the agenda includes, “action to build awareness for human rights, particularly to promote respect for rights and duties, such as through education. “  However, he goes on to assert, “Now is the time to … ensure that the country gives true content to the promise of this proclaimed national agenda and implement human rights comprehensively.”
