BERMUDA: Teaching Human Rights on Educator Conference Agenda.

The importance of teaching human rights was discussed at the Caribbean Union of Teachers conference.  The Royal Gazette reports on the conference which is being held in Bermuda for the first time.  The conference developments were also reported on by Bernews.  In the opening statement, Fred Van Leeuwen, immediate past president of the group stated, “Education is the key to human rights, to democracy and economic development. It is one of the most powerful tools against poverty and the way things go in the world depends very much on what teachers do.”
