Iraq: Film Festival Teaches Human Rights

A festival, featuring Iraqi filmmakers, directors, actors, musicians and artists, has focused on human rights issues.   The festival was sponsored by the Baghdad Foundation for Cinema and Arts in conjunction with the Human Rights Office of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq.  Speaking at the opening of the festival, Ms. Daniellle Bell, Head of the UN Human Rights Office in Iraq, said that “the films highlight contemporary challenges faced by minorities in Iraq and wider human rights issues, … .  These are powerful messages of great relevance to Iraq as it transitions from conflict to peace.”
