Lives and Daily Prayers of Five Children of Different Faiths
A new short film titled Five by The Mercadantes, a California-based couple, beautifully reflects the daily lives, rituals and prayers of five young children from different parts of the world. Starting in the morning and ultimately taking us into the house of worship of each of these children, this film lets us instantly reflect on the differences and everyday similarities of people of faith throughout the world.

What are human rights, and why are they important?
Every person on this earth has rights, including the right to a name, the right to a nationality, the right to education, and the right to a decent home. There are 30 Human Rights outlined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. While most places in the world respect these rights, many countries still abuse or ignore them. It is important that we know our rights, so that when those rights are violated, we can do what is necessary to correct them.

Education – Your Magic Key
Article 26 states that all human beings have the right to education. Basic education should be compulsory and free, at least in the elementary and fundamental stages. However, many people are deprived of education around the world. It’s your right, and everyone deserves the opportunity to learn in a school. Technical and vocational education should be generally available, and higher education should be equally accessible to all on the basis of merit.

Freedom of Religion or Belief
Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states: Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance.

You Have the Right to a Family
Did you know that being part of a family is one of your 30 human rights? You also have the right to choose when and whom you marry. You and your spouse have equal rights. (Article 16)

Right to Life
Article 3 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states: Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person. We all have legal rights and must be treated equally under the law. An accused person has the right to be assumed innocent until proven guilty (Article 11), to be treated humanely (Articles 4 and 5), and to receive a fair and public hearing (Article 10).

Discrimination
When we treat others differently or unfairly because they’re different from us, that’s discrimination. The fact is, we are more alike than we are different. This video shows how we can develop empathy, understanding, and compassion and stand up to discrimination.
