18 Oct QATAR: Agreement to Promote Human Rights Through Education Announced
A memorandum of understanding (MOU) has been agreed to between the Qatari organizations, Education Above All (EAA), Silatech and the United Nations High Commission for Human Rights. The agreement was signed by Fahad al-Sulaiti, Chief Executive Officer, EAA; Sabah al-Haidoos, Chief Executive Officer, Silatech; and Eldon Pearce, Chief of Finance and Budget Section, UN Human Rights. According to gulf-times.com the MOU, “the emphasis of the agreement is to support young people’s economic and social empowerment.” Speaking of the agreement, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, identified “the promotion and protection of the rights of children and youth through education” as a priority.
