05 Feb AFGANISTAN: UN meeting held in the southeast province of Ghazni
At a UN backed meeting held in the southeast province of Ghazni, participants discussed the important role of community leaders in promoting and protecting human rights was discussed. According to a report by reliefweb.net, 40 religious scholars, activists, journalists and community leaders gathered to discuss” how civil society can more effectively empower their communities by increasing awareness of human rights and putting in place better mechanisms to protect those rights.” Participants concluded the meeting by affirming their commitment to promoting human rights.
