International Conference Urges Support for Religious Freedom and Human Rights

The greatest difference between open, free societies and authoritarian regimes is respect for human rights and religious freedom, speakers told the Conference of Hope for Universal Human Rights and Religious Freedom, held Nov. 12 in South Korea. Speakers addressed the plight of many religious organizations and communities worldwide who face discrimination and persecution.
 
A former US senator who served as Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom called religious freedom “a hallmark of an open society in a democracy,” adding, democracies “must stand for religious freedom for everybody, everywhere, all the time.” Read more.
