MEXICO: Human Rights Training for Mexico City Educators

Maria Burns, writing in The Daily Telescope, reports on the training of 700 supervisors of the Mexico Federal District of Education in Human Rights Education.  The story is also reported in the Digital Journal.  The supervisors will then oversee the training of 3500 teachers and an additional 350 social workers.  The training is carried out as a partnership between the Directorate of Special Education of the Department of Education and Youth for Human Rights (YHR), and uses the YHR curriculum.  YHR is the youth program of United for Human Rights, and NGO.  According to the article, “Educators in many countries report Youth For Human Rights educational materials change the attitudes that underlie bullying. Students read a simple booklet on the 30 articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which makes these rights very understandable.”
