06 Nov NEPAL: Human Rights Training Academy Established
The National Human Rights Commission has announced plans to establish a human rights training academy. Expected to open next year, the academy will provide training in human and civil rights to government and non-government officials including law enforcement, military, civil service and educational personnel. The commission expects to partner with Tribhuvan University and Hong Kong University for some academic courses. Prakash Osti, a member of the Commission has said, “The services by the government and non-government agencies should fully abide by human rights principle. Therefore, every [person] working with these institutions must have knowledge on these issues.”
