11 Dec NIGERIA: Right Awareness Low in Nigeria: Education is the Key
Angela Atabo, writing in News Agency Nigeria (nan.ng) has reported on a Human Rights Fiesta organized by Citizen’s Advocacy for Social and Economic Rights (CASER), in celebration of Human Rights Day. Mr Frank Tietie, Executive Director of CASER is quoted as saying, “The human rights consciousness in Nigeria is very low, and that is why we as ordinary citizens are now taking the initiate to create awareness. “ He goes on to say, “Human rights education is the key; we need to increase the consciousness of rights that are beyond those contained in the Constitution to those accepted internationally.’’
