RWANDA: Citizens Respond to Human Rights Report

The New Times reports that nearly 20% of Rwandans are not aware of their human rights, this based upon a report recently released by the National Commission for Human Rights (HCHR).  In response the commission has plans to concentrate on human rights awareness over the next six years.  The report includes a number of interviews with people on the streets about their views on teaching human rights.  Typical of the responses was the following, “I think that human rights activists need to start teaching about human rights from village level but that means that we need to educate local leaders too because some of them do not know about it.”
